Wild birds know that they cannot grow to be totally dependent on a single food source, since more than likely that food would be gone one day. Typically, birds are foragers, who get food here and there where and whenever they can find it. While birds can live without backyard bird feeders, they’d certainly have less pleasant lives, and we would as well for that matter.

To attract a great variety of birds, using a big tube shaped feeder is great. Black sunflower seeds are suitable for a number of bird species, but you will need to check up on the feeder every day to remove hulls along with other rubble that can clog up the small feeding holes.

Every species of bird has different habits when eating. If you want to appeal to certain bird types, you can do this by using specific feeders, along with the food you put into them. Seed tube bird feeders pretty much all work in basically the same way. You put seed into a vertical tube that’s usually made out of hard plastic. There are numerous perches and food holes for different birds. The holes permit the birds to get the seed out, and as the amount of feed declines within the tube, the birds need to begin to feed lower about the tube.

There are essentially three kinds of tube feeders that come in a variety of sizes. The standard models have seed holes that are big enough to hold sunflower seeds, which is among the most popular seed for wild birds. The next is one has smaller sized holes that can dispense the tiny Nyger seed, which is something that finches really like. The last type was created for goldfinches, and the perches are placed over the feed holes. This permits goldfinches to get a better chance of obtaining some food, since other finches sometimes overpower them at the feeder. Goldfinches have no problems eating upside down, and frequently eat in this way in the wild when consuming sunflower seeds right from the plant.

Tubular bird feeders can be simple to load, permit the seeds to be seen easily by both people and birds, and they assist in avoiding spilling. Although it might take a while before you notice birds coming to feed, they will soon enough, and they will come back as long as you keep them provided with their favorite foods.
